This extraordinary fluorite from the Elmwood Mine captivates with its powerful, almost monolithic crystal form and the impressive depth of its structures. The cubic main crystal is surrounded by a complex, abstract crystal structure. The color scheme is dominated by an intense spectrum of cool violet tones, which are structured by clearly recognizable zoning within the crystal. This zoning gives the piece an extraordinary spatial depth and makes its history immediately comprehensible. Presented on a custom-made pedestal, the fluorite becomes an impressive showpiece with a strong character.
Properties
- The fluorite exhibits a striking cubic formation with sharply defined edges and a central, clearer crystal zone. This is surrounded by darker blue-violet growth phases, which run through the entire piece in clearly pronounced horizontal and diagonal banding. The zoning is not only visible in terms of color but also structurally, documenting changing growth conditions during crystal formation.
- The mineral's good translucency allows a deep view into the interior of the crystal. When illuminated from the side or rear, the internal structures stand out particularly vividly and create a strong visual effect.
- The outer surface is richly textured and displays beautiful natural etching, creating an exciting contrast to the smooth, clear main surface of the crystal. This combination of clarity and complex texture gives the piece an extraordinary dynamism.
- A specially designed base ensures stability and perfectly highlights the vertical alignment and striking crystal geometry.
Origin
The closed Elmwood Mine in Tennessee is one of the most important fluorite deposits in the world and is known for its large, zoned crystals of exceptional quality. Typical of fluorite from this deposit are the intense violet tones, the clear cubic formation, and the pronounced internal zoning—features that this specimen impressively combines.
Aesthetics
This piece pays homage to the subtle beauty of the mineral world—delicate yet powerful in its charisma and presence. It is ideal for a tasteful collection in which both color and form play a role. This fluorite piece will reveal its full poetry and attract attention, especially in a well-lit display case.
