Origin & Geology – Tsumeb Mine, the world’s richest polymetallic mine
The Tsumeb Mine in Namibia is considered one of the most significant mineralogical sites worldwide. Over 250 different mineral species have been identified here, including numerous first records. Cerussite—a lead carbonate—forms in the oxidation zone of lead deposits and occurs in Tsumeb in an extraordinary variety of colors and shapes. The green variety, caused by copper inclusions, is particularly rare and highly sought after among collectors of minerals from Namibia.
