Lustrous Goethite - Clara Pit, Black Forest, Germany

This compact but strikingly brilliant specimen comes from the famous Clara Pit in the Black Forest - one of the most important sites for a variety of mineral species in Europe. The goethite presented here is a rare, completely lustrous specimen with an intense black color.

Texture and surface

Goethite impresses with its dense, compact structure and highly lustrous surface, which reflects the light in an impressive way. The natural shape with subtle curves gives the piece a dynamic, almost sculptural aesthetic.

Coloring and shine

The deep black color of the mineral is impressively accentuated by the shiny metallic coating. The piece reveals its full charm in direct light in particular - with an almost mirror-like shimmer that is typical of high-quality goethite from this region.
