Violet fluorite - Ehrenfriedersdorf mine, 3. Sohle, Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany
This violet fluorite comes from the legendary Ehrenfriedersdorf mine in the Erzgebirge, more precisely from the 3. Sohle - an area known for particularly color-intensive and crystal-clear fluorite finds. The region is one of the most traditional mining areas in Europe and is a real treasure for mineral collectors.
Crystal structure and composition
The piece shows typical cube-shaped fluorite crystals in an intense, rich violet color. The crystals have grown on a contrasting matrix, which clearly enhances their visual effect. The edges are well defined and the crystals show a high brilliance as well as a glassy luster in places.
Color intensity and depth
The color ranges from a deep amethyst violet to lighter, almost lavender tones, depending on the incidence of light and viewing angle. The specimen shows a lively interplay between transparency and color intensity - a typical feature of high-quality fluorites from this depth of the mine.
A classic collector's item from the Ore Mountains
Fluorite from Ehrenfriedersdorf is not only prized for its beauty, but also for its geological significance. The 3. Sohle is considered by connoisseurs to be particularly productive and produces rare top quality pieces like this one. A must for any collection with a focus on Saxon classics or European deposits.
